Recharger chambers modified

CULTEC has modified its Recharger V8HD size parameters. The chamber is now 32 inches high and 60 inches wide, with a bare chamber capacity of 8.68 cubic feet per linear foot, and is typically installed 66 inches on center. In connection with the size modifications, CULTEC updated the Recharger V8HD parameters in HydroCAD and its own CAD detail sheets and Stormwater Design Calculator.
Design professionals who use HydroCAD to model CULTEC chambers need to download the latest version of HydroCAD software updates to continue designing with the Recharger V8HD accurately. Users with an active HydroCAD registration can download the updated version with the following link: www.hydrocad.net/download/chambers/index.htm. To correctly model with the Recharger V8HD, customers need to choose the Recharger V8I HD (Intermediate) to make up the intermediate sections of a row and one of the V8S HD (Starter) and V8E HD (End) for each row in their model.

The Water Environment Federation and the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association announce new partnership

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) — a not-for-profit organization that educates and represents the decentralized systems and onsite wastewater treatment profession — have announced a significant new partnership that took effect on February 1, 2010. Passed in January by the organizations’ boards of trustees, the resolution formalizes a three-year agreement to closely collaborate and promote a shared vision of an integrated and holistic approach to water, stormwater, and wastewater management.

Free flow of stormwater

Tideflex Check Valves are popular with coastal and inland municipalities for stormwater systems. The all-elastomer design of the Tideflex Check Valve allows for free flow of stormwater while preventing backflow from canals, streams, rivers and oceans. The TF-1 Curved Bill Tideflex Check Valve is designed to enhance sealing, especially in low-lying areas with little backpressure. The valve is constructed entirely of rubber, making it virtually immune to rust, corrosion and weathering. The curved bill of the TF-1 seals without backpressure, allowing for a tighter seal that eliminates gapping issues. The TF-1 also has a strong spring steel spine, enabling it to handle long-term water weight. The spine is at a greater vertical angle, making the TF-1 able to withstand the cantilever effect.

Controller for pressure booster applications

CSI Controls introduces the CSCPC4 controller for pressure booster applications. The CSCPC4 microprocessor-based controller is specifically designed for constant pressure applications using variable frequency drives (VFDs). Capable of controlling up to four VFDs, the CSCPC4 controller features P.I.D, control, automatic alternation, data logging and communication capabilities. The backlit graphic display allows the operator to monitor pressure, pump speeds, and alarm status at a glance.

Electromagnetic meter

The Krohne WATERFLUX 3070 is an electromagnetic water meter for applications in the water and wastewater industry. Its 15 year battery life makes it suited to applications where no power is available. The device also has the option of a GSM module for remote transmission of measurement data and status information. Thanks to extremely short inlet and outlet installation requirements, the WATERFLUX 3070 can be installed in very narrow wells and chambers.

Megaflex valve handles stormwater overflow

Red Valve’s large-diameter Type A Megaflex Pinch Valve is ideal to handle stormwater overflows. The Megaflex offers full-port opening, no moving parts, no external actuator and the ability to close drop-tight on entrapped solids. The elastomer sleeve is the only wetted part. This 72-inch Megaflex valve is one of three installed in a major Midwestern city using the sewer system for stormwater storage. Available in sizes from 30 to 96 inches.

Machine fuses HDPE pipes

Two McElroy DynaMc Auto models are now available for fusing high-density polyethylene pipes sized from 63 mm up to 340 mm. The DynaMc Auto 250 and 412 are McElroy’s newest fusion machines. McElroy designed the low interfacial pressure DynaMc Auto machines to be extremely powerful and sturdy, while maintaining a small, portable and modular design. The DynaMc Autos are also ideal for in-ditch fusion situations. The DynaMc Auto 250 machine is capable of fusing pipes sized from 63 mm to 250 mm. The 412 machine has fusion capabilities from 110 mm to 340 mm. Both machines are comprised of five components – the control unit, facer, power unit, heater and jaw carriage.

Municipal/industrial Magmeter

Omega's new FMG-1000 series is as economical as a mechanical meter and is simple to maintain. With no moving parts and electrodes designed to discourage fouling, this device requires less frequent maintenance in applications in which debris or sand would impede mechanical meters. It comes with a built-in pulse output for data logging or telemetry. Solar power and a data logger option are also available. This product is for use in municipal or industrial water and wastewater applications.

System monitors up to 144 points

Sensaphone’s most advanced remote monitoring system, the SCADA 3000, is now available with Ethernet capabilities. This new feature allows facility managers and other approved personnel to access live status, alarm history and other advanced information from any computer within a specified computer network for added convenience. The SCADA 3000 connects easily to a PC host and offers the highest level of monitoring, data logging and alarm notification. Dual mode thermometer

REOTEMP’s dual mode thermometer (model DMT) provides both local and remote temperature monitoring in one instrument. It combines the dependability of a bimetal with the accuracy of an RTD or thermocouple. This rugged dual-sensor system puts two sensors in one thermowell and allows for easy tie-in to process control. Both sensors are NIST traceable and easily calibrated. Temperature data logger with flexible probe

The OM-CP-H I T E M P -150FP is a small, rugged, reusable temperature data logger specifically designed for deployment in harsh environments. This data logger comes standard with a flexible silicone rubber cable, penetration style stainless steel probe, and stainless steel body. It features a programmable start time, real time operation, and an extended temperature range, all at an economical price. Data analysis is easy using the accompanying Windows software and NIST Calibration certificates are available. Thermocouple data logger

Lascar Electronics has extended its range of stand-alone USB data loggers with the introduction of the EL-USB-TC thermocouple data logger. Capable of accepting input from a J, K or T-Type thermocouple via a mini-thermocouple connector at the base of the unit, the EL-USB-TC can measure temperatures from -328°F to +2372° F / -200° to 1300° C depending on the type of sensor used. Each logger is supplied with free configuration software, a K-type probe and a 1/2AA lithium battery. Once the software is loaded on the host PC, plug the EL-USB-TC logger directly into the USB port to configure it. Choices include naming the unit, selecting the type of thermocouple being used, choosing a sample rate, setting high and low alarms and finally determining when the unit needs to start logging – immediately or a delayed start.

Portable flow meter works from outside a pipe

Online analyzer software

Applied Analytics releases ECLIPSE Process 10, the newest version of its online analyzer software. By improving control over the detection system, ECLIPSE Process 10 allows for instantaneous user interface response. Furthermore, simultaneous Analysis and Calibration Methods (ACM) can now be configured. An ACM is essentially a method of calculation: a set of data and variables that both calibrate the instrument and determine the parameters of analysis. Using several ACMs simultaneously provides extensive insight into the condition of the process. The new software also includes diagnostics and reporting routines to continuously evaluate the performance of the system and trigger rapid action if required.

Differential pressure controller has LCD display

The Series DH3 differential pressure controller provides a 4-20 mA process output, two SPDT relays with adjustable deadbands, and a large, bright backlit LCD display. The DH3 offers simplified programming via a menu key that enables the user to select: security level; set point or set point and alarm operation; auto or manual alarm reset; English or metric engineering units; pressure, velocity or flow operation, K-factor for use with various Pitot tubes and flow sensors, circular or rectangular duct size for volumetric flow operation plus many more. The robust Photohelic gage style a l u m i n u m housing is rated NEMA 4X on the front face when properly installed in a control panel. The sensing element can detect low differential pressures down to 0.25 inches up to 100 inches. Bidirectional ranges are also available. These features make the DH3 Digihelic Differential Pressure Controller the ideal instrument for monitoring pressures in various rooms, zones and ducts in factories, laboratories or buildings.

24/7 controller units

Control Company’s 24-hour and traceable seven-day controller units combine a controller and an eight-outlet strip in a single package.The controllers can turn on chemical, water, or air pumps as part of a sampling process; warmup instruments at preset times; and automate testing, heating, mixing, or even feeding animals. Flow meter incorporates polyurethane liner

The ENVIRO-MAG 2000 magnetic flow meter for municipal water and waste-water treatment applications offers quick, simple and low-cost installation and commissioning. With no mechanically moving parts, the ENVIROMAG 2000 is maintenance-free. Its design incorporates a high-quality polyurethane liner with field-replaceable HC4 Hastelloy electrodes. The ENVIRO-MAG 2000 boasts a 2000:1 turndown with specified measuring accuracy. The ENVI-ROMAG 2000 offers a rapid response time with no obstructions, and is suitable for applications with process temperatures up to 176°F and pressures up to 580 psig.

Piping suitable for storm drainage, culverts

With Ultra-X2, IPEX has expanded its Ultra-Rib system, valued for its secure joints and straightforward installation, to include large-diameter 750 mm and 900 mm sizes. The move renders these systems suitable for a wider range of applications, from storm drainage to highway and culvert channels. With its dual-wall construction, Ultra-X2 pipes maintain both reliable hydraulic performance and solid strength characteristics. A smooth inner wall streamlines flow with a Manning’s ‘n’ value of 0.009, while a corrugated outer wall reinforces overall structural integrity, enabling use in demanding environments. Despite being designed for non-pressure applications, Ultra-X2 joints withstand hydrostatic pressures of up to 15 psi, making the pipe suitable not only for stormwater systems, but also surcharged sewers and high groundwater applications. Ultra-X2 is certified to CSA B182.4.

Formulas built into sensors

LPU-2428 Loop Powered Ultrasonic Level Sensors with microprocessor control internally perform volume, flow, and to-talization calculations. These IP65-rated sensors provide a one to 25-foot (0.3 to 7.62 m) detection range. They are spe-cifically designed for liquid flow-rate and volume measurement applications, and are also a good solution for determining distance and level. For determining flow rates, formulas for a variety of flumes and weirs are built into the sensors. These include Parshall flumes, cut-throat flumes, California-pipe weirs, rectangular weirs, and v-notch weirs.

Segmented wedge design is minimally invasive

The FreeFlow flow meter is a rugged, compact flow meter constructed of PVC, poly-etherimide and polycarbonate materials. Its simple segmented wedge design offers a low cost, reliable and minimally invasive measurement technique. Measuring accuracy of the FreeFlow flow meter is ±2% of range, with repeatability of ±1/2% of full scale. Lake engineers developed the new meter utilizing the segmented wedge differential pressure sensing technology to address the flow metering needs of OEM and integrated process monitoring and control applications.

Inlet guard protects drains, is easy to maintain

The Ultra-Inlet Guard keeps dirt, sand, sediment, trash and debris out of drains. It is quick and easy to install using built-in magnets – no more lifting of heavy catch basin grates. The Ultra-Inlet Guard is available in several sizes for street drains and combination drains. Custom sizes are also available. Heavy-duty, reinforced material allows up to 192 gal/ft2/min. through drains. Maintenance is easy: simply remove unit, shake off excess dirt, silt and sediment and put back in place. The low-profile design can be driven over and is unobtrusive to traffic and personnel.

Chlorine drum scrubber removes chlorine from air

Filtration Systems, Inc., a division of Purafil U.S.A., recently announced the addition of the Chlorine Drum Scrubber (CDS) to its product line to remove more than 99.5 percent of chlorine from air in industrial, water and wastewater applications. The new scrubber canister is constructed with reinforced fiberglass for superior corrosion resistance against chlorine with chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) packing. The CDS is sized for airflows of 170, 510 and 850 m3/hr. Chlorine-laden air enters the bottom of the CDS and flows upward through the Chlorosorb Ultra dry-scrubbing media. All of the scrubber sizes are bulk-filled with Chlorosorb Ultra for 15 percent chlorine removal capacity, which is currently the highest in the market, according to its manufacturer.

Ultrasonic flow meter

E M C O ’s Sono-Trak Transit Time ultrasonic flow meter combines advanced non-invasive flow measurement technology with a versatile transmitter design to provide an accurate, maintenance-free, easy-to-install, and easy-to-use measuring system.
